There's no compliment like a SALE!

Recently the Neponset Valley Artists displayed their work in the Walpole Public Library. What fun it is to learn that a patron of the library bought one of the paintings!

Nancy Bacevich, NVA, oil, NO FISH TALES, Sold!
Nancy Bacevich, NVA, sold her painting, "No Fish Tales" at the Walpole Public Library, and I am sad to see this treasure of a painting go and not to hang on my wall! Ah well, a good lesson learned. "You snooze, you lose!"

I hear rumors, too, that others have had nibbles of interest on other works hanging there. Hurray for an art-loving Walpole Public Library population! How wonderful that we were able to secure a grant from the Walpole Cultural Council for a display system to ensure that artwork will always be on shown in the WPL foyer. The patrons notice and appreciate it!

Tony Donovan, NVA, is spending the winter months in Sedona, AZ. While there he managed to have another NVA member deliver his painting, Sidekicks, to the Norfolk Cultural Council show where it had been juried in. And then it sold! Hurray for Tony!

Tony Donovan, NVA, oil, SIDEKICKS, SOLD!
And since I'm mentioning Tony Donovan, while in Sedona his work was juried into the Sedona Arts Center Members Show and this piece, Holding On, sold. He's on a roll!

For more information on Tony's time in Sedona, feel free to follow along on his blog, Red Rock Report. It's a great read.

NVA work displayed at Walpole Library

The Walpole Public Library is going to open on Wednesday and members of the NVA were there today to hang a display of artwork.

NVA artwork by members Haydi Hurley, Cindy Kerr,
Kim Weineck, Nancy Bacevich, diane scotti, Frank Quinn, Polo Barrera.
Of course, you have to see them in person to appreciate them!

Frank Quinn, NVA, has worked tirelessly to ensure that the Walpole Public Library has a space for art display in its new building. He even wrote the grant to the Walpole Cultural Council which funded the display system!
NVA artwork by Polo Barrera, Ann Gorbett, diane scotti, Frank Quinn,
Tony Donovan, Kathy Hutchinson, Haydi Hurley, Nancy Bacevich

The NVA is honored to be the first displayed at the library. We're also thrilled to have established, after such research, the best gallery display system. Future artists will use it with ease and we look forward to seeing many shows for years and years to come.

Cindy Kerr, Haydi Hurley, and Nancy Bacevich agree it looks great!

Hard at work

From left to right: Kim Morin Weineck, Haydi Hurley, Tony Donovan, Nancy Bacevich, NVA spouse Jeff Kerr, Cindy Kerr, and Polo Barrera.

I do love this photo. Taken by Ann Gorbett, it shows many of the NVA hard at work during our Nantucket trip. From this porch overlooking the channel, boats zoomed by, ferries came and went, and we made paintings and enjoyed each other's conversation.

Some paintings from Nantucket

Our first full day in Nantucket yielded a bunch of work. Before heading to Haydi's show opening, we had an impromptu showing of our paintings at the fireplace.

Haydi Hurley used new watercolor pencils for her two at the top left.
Nancy Bacevich did a preparatory line drawing for a future pastel on the top right.
My (Kim Morin Weineck) three wee pastels are on the fireplace screen.
Cindy Kerr's oil is on the bottom left, followed by Ann Gorbett's oil painted with palette knives only, Tony Donovan's oil, and Polo Barrera's acrylic big sky landscape.

NVA member Ann Gorbett has updated her blog with photos from our Nantucket painting getaway, including a close up of her painting shown above.

And Ann's husband, Polo Barrera, another NVA member also posted about our Nantucket trip with a close up of his painting.

Dinner in Nantucket

The NVA had quite a wonderful time in Nantucket, all due to the hospitality of charter member, Haydi Hurley.

More about our trip to follow on this blog, but for now, here is a photo of all of us before enjoying dinner at The Starlight, formerly the White Dog. We were out for dinner after having seen Haydi's watercolor contributions to the small works show featuring work of the Artists Association of Nantucket.

Art show at the SSDP, No. Easton, MA

Recently the NVA installed a show at the South Shore Dermatology Physicans' office. What a great venue this is! The work looked fabulous and we are happy to be displaying our art to a captive waiting-room audience.

Here are some photos to show you how great the show is!

Kim Morin Weineck, NVA founder and instructor starts off the display on the left wall.

Kathy Harwood Hutchinson works in pastel. Here is a wonderful autumn piece:

Cindy Kerr enjoys visiting all mediums. Here are three pieces from her. The top piece is a pastel of a marsh. The lights reflecting in the glass don't allow the piece to resonate with viewers as it does in person.
